Eleventh Hour Literary is a new biannual online journal operating out of Binghamton University, with support from the Professional Staff Senate and President’s Office. Established by founding editors Rhonda Branca, director of Lyceum, and Ethan Knox, internal communications specialist, the journal is currently seeking submissions for its 2025 Inaugural Prose Contest.
Unlike many journals, prose from anyone will be accepted — including Binghamton University affiliates — but only pieces that have gone through rejections and been subsequently revised will be featured. The journal’s editorial mission is to create a community of writers who uplift each other in their perseverance.
The submission deadline for the inaugural issue is Saturday, Nov. 30 at 11:59 p.m. or 200 submissions, whichever comes first. While the journal will be focused mainly on prose, the founding editors hope that the journal will expand to include poetry and artwork soon. The top 10 submissions will be published, and the top-ranked submission will receive a payment of $200. Writers are invited to send work to eleventhhour@binghamton.edu.
